Introduction The Mishing tribe, also known as Miri by the local people, is one of the prominent indigenous communities of Assam. They chiefly reside in nine districts Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Tinsukia, Sonitpur, Darrang, Sivasagar, Dhemaji, Jorhat, and North Lakhimpur. Traditionally, the Mishings prefer to settle along riverbanks, building small huts or Chang Ghars houses raised on stilts to protect against floods. Their Villages are Scattered across Assam , each reflecting a unique blend of tradition, craftsmanship, and community life.
